At first in Matthew's gospel, the kingdom is spoken of as coming--though near.
Matthew 4:17
From that time Jesus began to preach, saying, "Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand."
Matthew 6:10
Your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.
Matthew 7:21
Not everyone who says to me, 'Lord, Lord,' will enter the kingdom of heaven, but the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven.

And proclaim as you go, saying, 'The kingdom of heaven is at hand.'
Later, we are told it will come during the lifetime of some hearing Jesus speak.

Finally, Jesus takes the communion with us in the kingdom.

The cup of blessing that we bless, is it not a participation in the blood of Christ? The bread that we break, is it not a participation in the body of Christ?
